Biography

Research Interests

• Molecular cloning, heterologous expression and production of biocatalysts that are implied in the degradation and/or modification of lignocellulosic biomass fractions for the production of bioactive compounds

• Biochemical characterization of enzymes (biochemical assay development, synergistic and inhibition kinetics, hydrolysis of natural substrates)

• Production and characterization of novel biocatalysts with oxidative activity and investigation of their applications in nanocellulose production

• Development of fermentation processes for the production of value-added products from the biomass sugar streams (lactic acid, omega-3 fatty acids)

• Evaluation of enzymatic activities on biomass fractions and development of customized cocktails towards the production of prebiotic compounds
